James R. Cunniff ,  January 6, 1931 – July 29th, 2021

 Beloved husband, Father, Grandfather, and friend to many. James, Jim to many, was born in Kingston, NY, to the late parents James H. and Irene B. Cunniff, and lived in Hurley, NY for most of his youth. After graduating from Kingston High School in 1949,  Jim attended the Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy in NY, and graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science degree,  a commission as Ensign in the US Navy Reserve, and an engineer officer's license in the United States Maritime Service.

He then went into the US Navy in 1954, and served aboard a destroyer during the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in July of 1956 as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. (LTJG) Jim went on to work with General Electric (GE) company in Schenectady, NY. 

After several training assignments, he accepted a permanent position in St. Louis, MO.  Jim married Norine Holloran in May of 1958 in Mechanicville, NY.  They made several career moves that included Omaha, NE, Davenport, IA, and Downers Grove, IL  Jim retired from GE as an Engineering Manager in 1991 after 35 years of service. 

He was well respected among his peers. Jim and Norine retired to Hot Springs Village in May of 1991.  Jim enjoyed many years of sailing on Lake Balboa. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Hot springs for 25 years. 

He served as President, Vice President, Chairman of Publicity, and Chairman of the Young Children Priority One. He was selected by his fellow Kiwanians to receive the George F. Hixson Fellowship award.  He also served as an instructor at Seniornet Village Learning Facility at the McAuley Center. 

He enjoyed helping friends and students find solutions to their computer problems. His hobbies included computers, photography, sailing, and swimming. 

Up until his final days, Jim was known to spend a couple of days a week swimming laps in the pool. Jim was known for his thoughtfulness, helpful nature, and his computer support skills. 

He made a lot of friends during his time in the village, and over his entire life.  He will be greatly missed by many, and his loving spirit will live on in the hearts of those who remain. 

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Norine J Cunniff, of 55 years, and his infant son, Jeffrey. 

He is survived by his Daughter, Laury D. Cunniff, of Jacksonville, FL, Son, Scott J Cunniff, of Indianapolis,IN, and Grandson, Tyler S. Cunniff, of Buffalo, NY 

May God welcome him into his Kingdom of Heaven, and may Jim and Norine be forever together in Eternity.
