Raymond Hearn Iii

Reverend Dr. Raymond (Bud) Hearn III, 91, passed away March 18, 2021 at CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs Arkansas. Bud was born in Carlisle Pennsylvania, mother Mildred Spence Hearn, father Raymond E Hearn II.  He attended Rutgers University and Montclair State University.  He received his Bachelors of Arts from Upsala College and his Master of Arts from The College of New Jersey.  Korean War Veteran who served two years in Germany as a corporal.  Following his armed forces service, for six years Bud served as an administrator at Livingston Junior High School in Livingston, New Jersey.   He was a ruling elder at Hilldale Park Presbyterian Church in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey. Bud had found his calling into the Theological Seminary, an institution of the United Presbyterian Church and attended the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa.  There he received his Master and Doctorate Degrees in Theology.  Over the years Bud shared his calling and wisdom in various church locations including Iowa, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, and Texas.  While in Mt. Vernon, Iowa he was an instrumental part of creating the Mt. Vernon Chapel View Manor residential care facility.  Along with serving as head pastor at the United Presbyterian Church in Laramie, Wyoming; he taught religion at the University of Wyoming.  Bud retired in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and continued his lessons even after his retirement.  While teaching at Hot Springs Community College he served as an interim minister at Unitarian Universalist Village Church, where a library in his name was established in honoring his love of education. He is survived by his wife Patricia Hearn of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, children, Carol (Russ) Phillips Thompson Stations, Tennessee, James Hearn Rapid City, South Dakota, and John (Ann) Hearn Dubuque, Iowa.  Along with eight grandchildren, Jessica (Sean) Brock, Bryan (Candice) Phillips, Kristen (Steve) Wonderlin, Cody Hearn, Holly Hearn, Hannah Hearn, Hailey Hearn, Emily Hearn and nine great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents Mildred and Raymond Hearn, In-laws Lillian and Shelly Mabry. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Southern Poverty Law Center, ACLU.Final quote in reflection of Raymond Hearn, “If the energy is not destroyed then maybe I’ll find a new life experience and hopefully Jesus is someplace still teaching!”The celebration of Raymond Hearn’s, a Memorial Service, will be at a later date TBA.
