Arnett "Laroy" Cornett of Hot Springs Village Arkansas entered life on May 14, 1939, in Houston Texas and left to be with his Heavenly Father on January 1, 2026.
Gone but not forgotten, in our hearts forever. Laroy was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle. His impact on family, friends and the community was immense. Because he passed this way the world is a little better place. He will be greatly missed and always remembered.
Laroy married the love of his life Beverly Ann Brattlof Cornett and they had 67 amazing years together. He started his law enforcement career with the Pasadena Texas police department where he worked for 8 years, the last 5 years as a detective. During this time he earned his degree in Psychology from the University of Houston. After graduation he went to work for the FBI as a special agent focusing on criminal profiling and firearms instruction. Laroy worked several high-profile bank robbery and kidnapping cases in California and Texas over his 26-year career. Fidelity, Bravery and Integrity are the words to describe his character. After retiring from the FBI Laroy became the Safety Director and served as the Chief of Police and Fire Department for Hot Springs Village Arkansas where he worked for another 18 years. Upon retiring from Hot Springs Village Laroy had a combined total of 52 years in Law Enforcement Service.
Laroy's passions were Family, God, Community, Friends, Deer hunting, fishing, dominos and golf. At 86 years old he continued to bow and rifle hunt always looking for the next BIG one! He never turned down a game of 42 with friends, never met a stranger and always had a story to tell and a joke to laugh at.
Laroy is preceded in death by his parents Arnett "Mac" and Alice "Ruth" Cornett, Sister Peggy Anderson and son Curtis Laroy Cornett. He is survived by his wife Beverly Ann Cornett, Daughter Debbie Clayton (Bryan) of Amarillo TX, son Brian Cornett of Vincennes, IN, Grandchildren Shannon Welch (Dylan) of Vincennes, IN, Justin Kinslow (Elizabeth) of Bixby, OK, Lindsey Cornett and Fiancé David Clark of Magnolia, TX, Harrison Clayton of Rock Port, IN, Brother Ronnie Cornett (Lynn) of Magnolia, TX, Sister Betty Smith of Magnolia, TX as well as 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
