David V Mills SR

David V. Mills Sr., age 79, passed away on September 15, 2026, in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas after a long illness.

Born on November 11, 1946, in Port Huron, Michigan, David grew up in upstate New York and Long Island. He attended Eastern Illinois University, where he met the love of his life, Connie Jean. The two were blessed with 52 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, family, and friendship.

David honorably served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam. He was also stationed for a time in Hawaii, and he and Connie enjoyed their time together there, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Following his military service, David enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer with the United States Postal Service. His work took their family to several places—including Little Rock, Kansas, and Memphis—where he and Connie raised their son, David Jr. Upon retiring from the Postal Service, David and Connie made Hot Springs Village their home, following in the footsteps of his parents, Fred and Barbara, who were active local community members (his father, Fred, previously serving as POA President).

An avid golfer and pool player, David had a quick wit, a great sense of humor, and a genuine love for telling stories and sharing jokes. In his quiet moments, he enjoyed tackling a good crossword puzzle and indulging his sweet tooth. Known affectionately as “Papa” to his grandson, he enjoyed his visits and teaching him ( and beating him) at Chess. Above all, David cherished his family and the many friendships he built throughout his life.

David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Connie Jean Mills, and his parents, Fred and Barbara Mills.

He is survived by his son, David Mills Jr., and daughter-in-law, Jenny Mills, of Nashville, Tennessee; his grandson, David Holden Mills, of Nashville, Tennessee; and his brother, Doug Mills, and sister-in-law, Lynn, of Livonia, Michigan.

David will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
