MgySgt Howard Dennis Hall, USMC, Retired, joined his heavenly father on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Dennis was born November 2, 1942 to Howard P. Hall and Margaret Elizabeth Hall (Dean) in La Grange, Kentucky.
His exemplary military career with the United States Marine Corps spanned 30 years and included 2 tours in Vietnam. Dennis was awarded numerous medals and honors over the years including a Purple Heart which he declined to accept. Instrumental in shaping many young lives, a trail of hardened, tough marines is his legacy.
Dennis married Connie in 1989 and upon retirement in 1990, they moved to Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia where they enjoyed life to the fullest. He enjoyed having his children, Penny and Charles, visit in Virginia along with hunting, fishing, golfing, and above all poker. Dennis served as a Bedford County Deputy Sheriff and later joined his wife in their business, “Kitchens by Connie.”
Dennis was preceded in death by his newborn son, Michael; mother Margaret Dean; sister, Patty Hayden; brother, Lawrence Hall; father, Howard Hall; and step-father, Willie Dean.
Left to honor and cherish his memory, his wife, Mary C. “Connie” Hall of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; daughter, Penny Michelle Johnson; son, Charles H. Hall; granddaughter, Ashley Hall, all of Louisville, Kentucky; step-daughter, Traci A. Barnhill and husband, Brian Barnhill of Jessieville, Arkansas; as well as, step-grandchildren Kathryn M. James and husband, Clayton, of Owensville, Arkansas; Sean Thornton and fiancé ,Haydin Cooper, and their daughter, Hallie Mae of Benton, Arkansas; niece, Denise Obermeyer of Louisville , Kentucky; a huge Hall Family in Kentucky; and many, many friends.
Dennis will be forever loved and missed.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to his caregivers, Tiffany Moore and Destiny Jones, for their gentle care.
A Military Honors Service will be held October 28, 2022 at 1:30pm at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial tributes to the American Cancer Society or The Marine Corp in his name.
