Joy Ford Dressler, a devoted family woman and cherished member of the Hot Springs Village community, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Born on February 25, 1955, in Quanah, Texas, Joy lived a life marked by love, service, and a deep commitment to those closest to her.

Joy’s journey took her through humble beginnings and steady dedication, culminating in her role as a clerk at BNSF Railroad. Though her career was one chapter, it was her heart that truly defined her. She was a loving sister, daughter, wife, grandmother, and friend—one who always placed her family first and ensured they were cared for with unwavering tenderness.

After moving to Hot Springs Village in 2002 with her beloved husband, Jim Dressler, Joy embraced tradition and togetherness by hosting Thanksgiving dinners for family each year. These gatherings were a centerpiece of warmth and joy, lasting until Jim’s health no longer permitted her to continue. Their love extended beyond moments of festivity into cherished summers where Joy and Jim welcomed seven grandchildren at a time to spend a week filled with laughter, outdoor adventures, and simple pleasures: swimming in the pool and lake, playing putt-putt, savoring pancake breakfasts at Isabella Country Club, and tending a vast garden where the children joyfully shelled black-eyed peas by the bucketful—stories that will be fondly retold for years to come.

Joy’s spirit was never confined to family alone; she found fulfillment and friendship as a treasured member of the Crystal Chimes Chorus in Hot Springs Village. Her passion for singing brought light to her life—even when physical challenges from COPD made it difficult, she persevered quietly, never seeking the spotlight but cherishing the camaraderie and music deeply.

She is survived by her three daughters—Jami Cheffey and her husband Kevin, Angie Shipp and her husband Richard, Jaccalyn Walker, and her son, Paul Knowles. Joy’s legacy lives on vibrantly in her grandchildren Kaitlyn, Denver, Michaela, Aubrey, Kara, Cole, Hunter, Shelby, and Addison, who carry with them the love and memories she so generously gave. She is also survived by her sisters Janis Nickerson and Lori Batchelor, and her brother Dale Ford.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Doyle Preston & Betty Jo Ford, her beloved husband of 30 years, Jim Dressler, and her brother Monty Ford. Their memories remain etched in the hearts of all who knew her.

A visitation honoring Joy will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cedar Vale Funeral Home, 200 Minorca Rd, Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. Her funeral service will follow on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Mountainside Church, 301 Elcano Dr, Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.

Joy Ford Dressler leaves behind a rich tapestry of love, cherished memories, and a legacy of selfless devotion. She touched the lives of many, not only through her enduring commitment to family but also through the friendships and music she held dear. In remembering Joy, we celebrate a life beautifully lived, full of love, laughter, and quiet strength.
