Sib Harley Burke, 91, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, May 28th, 2025, in Hot Springs Village. He was born April 21, 1934, in Tichnor, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his parents C.L. and Viola (Wallace) Burke, wife Jo (Niven) Burke, two brothers C.L. Burke and Carrol Burke, two sisters Glenda Creecy and Pat Roberts, and daughter Vicki Moe.
Harley is survived by his daughter, Leslie Wold (Truman) of Hawaii and son, Jeff Burke of Illinois, four grandchildren, Severin Wold of Oregon, Tierney Wold of Massachusetts, Jessica McCain of Cabot, Arkansas, and Caleb Moe of Indiana and four great grandchildren.
Harley and Jo were married on January 20, 1957, in Russellville, Arkansas. He graduated from Arkansas Tech University and served in the United States Army from 1957 to his retirement in 1983. He served one tour of duty in Vietnam and over the course of his military career was awarded numerous medals, badges, bars, and ribbons, including the Bronze Star and the Meritorious Service Medal.
The Burkes moved to Hot Springs Village in 1986. Harley was a member of Barcelona Road Baptist Church for over 35 years, where he served as a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher, and as a member of the church choir.
Harley was a member of the Arkansas Master Singers and of the Gideons International.
Harley was an avid golfer, hitting 14 holes-in-one and winning the Hot Springs Village Men's Golf Association (MGA) Tournament in 1991. He served on the MGA Board of Directors in 2007. He also loved playing cards.
Harley will be fondly remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Arrangements were made under the direction of CedarVale Funeral Home inside the Hot Springs Village.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Sib Harley Burke will be held 1:00pm on June 21st, at Barcelona Road Baptist Church in Hot Springs Village, located at 390 Barcelona Rd.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Barcelona Road Baptist Church.
